Welcome to Travel+Experiment!

Guimaras Island has 8,000 hectares of mango orchards where some 50,000 of these trees are planted. The island is famous for producing some of the sweetest mangoes in the world. The varieties of mangoes produced are also best for making dried mangoes, jam and other delicacies. The fastest route to the province is by means of a pump boat which is about 10-15 minutes ride from Iloilo City.

Guimaras activities & attractions must see.

Destination: Introducing Guimaras Island!

The province is composed of five municipalities, namely: Jordan, the provincial capital; Buenavista; Nueva Valencia; and the newly created Sibunag and San Lorenzo. Guimaras occupies about 3% of the region's total land area. The island is located in the Panay Gulf, between the islands of Panay and Negros. To the northwest is the province of Iloilo and to the southeast is Negros Occidental. Guimaras' largest event of the year is The Manggahan Festival (the Mango Festival).

After you have enjoyed and visited the beautiful places of Bacolod City, its time also to pay a visit one of the very friendly and charming islands of Guimaras. Make sure to come in Guimaras during the mango season which starts in the month of April.

The monastery is also available for retreats and there are 35 monks living in the monastery. When we enter inside the monastery, a monk welcomed us; he asked us to write our prayer petitions in the paper and after that he blessed us and we gave our petitions. They produce a number of products, selling under the brand "Trappist Monastic Products", including pineapple and mango jams, which can be found at their shop and in local stores.

4. Museo de Guimaras
The Guimaras Provincial Monument and Museum was built in 2006. The structure serves as landmark for the people of the province. When we had tour around Guimaras the museum is under renovation and closed to public.

5. The Pitstop Restaurant

This restaurant is along the main road and everything in the menu has mangoes in it – mango pizza, mango adobo, mango shake, mango burger, mango carbonara, piaya (traditional flatbread), mango spaghetti, garden fresh pizza and mango catsup. The place is nice and quiet, very affordable price and friendly staff.

6. Island hopping

A. Raymen Beach Resort in Alubihod, Poblacion, Nueva Valencia. This is most accessible for it can be reached by boat and land transportation which makes it ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and kayaking and other water activities. If one travels by land, Raymen Beach Resort is 40 minutes from Jordan wharf by land. If one chooses to travel by boat, it will take an hour from Iloilo Wharf. The resort is also convenient because they offer island hopping packages even for walk-in guests.
B. There are breeds of milkfish and grouper the size of a small kid. The chief coordinator of SEAFDEC will give you a small tour of the floating facility in the middle of sea.

Guisi Lighthouse is a ruin of an 18th century Spanish parola located at the Guisi Point of Barangay Dolores in Nueva Valencia. The lighthouse, a 17.5 m (58 ft) octagonal cylindrical tower, was built by the Spanish government in 1894 -1896 that used to serve as a navigational aid to the fishermen and sailors cruising Panay Gulf. A "Welcome" sign written on a fish-shaped board at the entrance greeted us. Entrance fee is P10 per person only. You may also visit other beach resorts near Guisi Lighthouse.
